What You Need to Know About Obtaining a Marriage License in Taos County

TO OBTAIN A MARRIAGE LICENSE IN TAOS COUNTY
(Note: you can obtain them elsewhere in the state, but they have to be returned to that county)
- The fee is $25.00 Cash or Credit Card Only
- Both applicants must be present and be at least 18 years of age.
- All individuals must provide a valid government-issued form of identification with photo, name and date of birth
- Social Security Card or Number is required
- If you do not have a social security card two valid forms of identification are required
- If under 18 years of age, a parental consent (mother and father providing photo ID) is required. If under 15 years of age, a court order (documentation by the courts is required)
- Blood tests are not required.
OTHER INFORMATION
- Marriage Licenses are issued Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- A marriage license must be obtained BEFORE the ceremony takes place.
- Marriage Licenses issued by the clerk’s office are valid only in the State of New Mexico
- Marriage Licenses issued by the clerk’s office do not expire
FILING YOUR MARRIAGE LICENSE
- ALL LICENSES ISSUED MUST BE RETURNED
- Please be sure that all parties have signed the licensed
- Bring in person or Mail your license to: 105 Albright St. Ste D, Taos, NM 87571
- After filing the license will be returned to you. Certified copies of the marriage license can be provided for legal purposes.
